Samsung Galaxy S24 news (Updated August 24)
A leaker claims that some Android flagships may not feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset as a way of keeping costs down. It’s unclear if the Galaxy S24 would be impacted.
Samsung Galaxy S24 release date and price predictions
The Galaxy S24 will most likely be unveiled at a Galaxy Unpacked in 2024, either in January or February. The Galaxy S24 may be on display with other Samsung gadgets, as the Galaxy S23 was with the Galaxy Book 3 this year. But we expect the focus to remain on the new phones.
The pricing is still unknown, but we expect Samsung to maintain the current price points of $799, $999, and $1199. We hope for this in particular for the U.K. and Australian markets, since the Galaxy S23 was slightly more expensive than the Galaxy S22 at PS849/PS1,049/PS1,249 and AU$1,349/AU$1,649/AU$1,949 respectively.
Samsung Galaxy S24 – Design and display
Samsung’s three-part Galaxy S line will remain intact, and we assume that the Galaxy S24 will be no different. This would mean that the new range will probably include a 6.1″ standard model, a Galaxy S24 Plus 6.6″, and a Galaxy S24 Ultra 6.8″.
It is possible that Galaxy S24 Plus may be slightly larger. It may seem like a small increase, but a 0.05-inch difference could be significant, as a bigger display will likely mean a bigger body.
Tech_Reve has claimed that the S24 Plus and S24 will have the same design as the S23 counterparts. Samsung tweaks the design of its phones every year. This means that they might not be identical. The same source that claims the Galaxy S23 Plus has a larger display also believes the Galaxy S24 Ultra may feature titanium sides. This is similar to a possible iPhone 15 Pro Max Rumor.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra will keep the spirit of the Galaxy Note with its curved edges, right-angled corners, and alleged Titanium side rails.
IceUniverse, a leaker, claims that despite titanium being heavier than aluminum, which Samsung uses in its current flagships, it should be a little lighter than the Galaxy S23 Ultra.
Techno Concept, a render artist, has designed the Galaxy S24 Ultra in advance of any specific leaks. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is similar to the Galaxy S23 Ultra but with a different camera block.

According to Ice Universe the Galaxy S24 and S24+ may finally receive the Ultra treatment, and feature LTPO displays. This technology would allow them to have a fully adaptive refresh rate like the Ultra. The Galaxy S24 Ultra is said to have a display that could be as bright as 2,800 nits.
Multiple leaks suggest that the Galaxy S24 will feature narrower bezels.
Samsung Galaxy S24 Cameras
The cameras of the Galaxy S24 standard models haven’t been rumored to change much yet. will be able to use the 50MP camera from the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23 Plus and Galaxy S24. The remaining 12MP ultrawide/10MP 3-x telephoto/12MP self-portrait sensors will be on the S24 models, as well. In fact, we have heard more recently that is the 12MP camera.
The Galaxy S23 Ultra will likely not see any changes to its 200MP main camera, nor the 12MP ultrawide and 12MP selfie cameras. One rumor suggests that the Ultra camera sensor is 1-inch-sized. This would make it the largest sensor on the market, and bigger than the sensor expected to come with the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
As part of the Galaxy S24 Ultra update, it is possible that one or both 10MP telephoto lenses could be affected.
According to RGcloudS, the S24 Ultra’s Telephoto cameras will be able to take better pictures thanks a longer lens, improved optics, and a brighter aperture. This could lead to a 150x maximum zoom (currently only 100x for the Ultra), and a more impressively variable Zoom.

Separate reports claim that the Galaxy S24 is set to get a graphics boost, in the form a GPU up to 50% faster. The Galaxy S24 could blow away the iPhone 15 Pro in games and other high-demanding apps, despite its apparent CPU difference.
Some people think that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. will be used on all Galaxy S24 devices. Separate reports indicate that Samsung may be considering the return of Exynos chipsets in at least some Galaxy S24 models. It is unclear which regions will get the Exynos chipset. has suggested that Europe could be one of them.
Samsung is working to close the gap between its Exynos Galaxy S models and their Snapdragon counterparts. According to leaked Geekbench benchmarks, the Exynos 2400 is able to achieve better multicore performance than Apple’s A16 Bionic and Qualcomm 8 Gen 2.
A Weibo leaker claims that top Android phones will skip the Snapdragon 8 Generation 3 chipset because the new silicon is expensive. These phones will instead use older Qualcomm chipsets or MediaTek Dimensity. It is unclear whether this would affect the Galaxy S24. We’d assume the S24 Ultra would stay with the Snapdragon but Samsung could find other chipsets for the standard and Plus versions.
A second leaker confirmed this and also claimed that the S24 Ultra would offer 16GB RAM.
This same leaker claims that the Galaxy S24 standard model will offer 256GB storage as a base model, just like the Plus and Ultra models. Other sources have confirmed this claim, so we hope it’s true. We’d prefer to hear from leaders who have a more solid track record before we believe this claim.
Samsung Galaxy S24 battery life and charging
There have been a few rumors regarding the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s and S24 Plus’s battery. One of them is that it will be a completely new design. According to reports, Samsung will use a stacked battery in both phones. This will increase energy density without increasing the size. According to a report, Samsung’s energy density could increase by 10%.
Initial rumors suggested that the Galaxy S23’s Galaxy S24 Ultra and 24 Plus would have the same 4,700mAh and 5,000mAh. A report on the bezels around the phones’ displays suggests that the Galaxy S24 Plus power pack could also increase to 4,900mAh.
The S24 Ultra may now charge at 65W instead of 45W.
The Galaxy S24 has not been announced yet, but we can assume that the 3,900 mAh batteries will be the same for the next generation. It is yet to be seen if the S24 Plus and S24 will have a faster charging speed than the current 45W and 25W.
It would be nice to see faster chargers across the board. Especially since the iPhone 15 is expected to finally offer USB-C.

Faster Charging
Even the models that are 45W compatible, the Galaxy S23 has some of the most slow charging rates of all new smartphones. Samsung should take a cue from OnePlus to improve the charging speed of the Galaxy S24. It would be great to move up to 60W.
Price Freeze
This is for British, Australian, and others who paid a little more for the Galaxy S23 than they did for previous Samsung flagships. It would be great if Samsung could keep the price of its phones stable for another year or so, to make the latest tech more affordable for a wider range of budgets. This will also prevent Samsung from pushing users to cheaper alternatives like OnePlus and Google Pixels.
More RAM/storage
The Galaxy S23’s default storage and RAM are among the lowest you will find on any flagship phone. Even if Samsung keeps the default RAM and storage low to keep the price accessible, users who want a smaller phone but need more storage for photos, videos, apps, etc., will benefit from the option of adding RAM.
S Pen upgrades
Samsung hasn’t done much with the S Pen stylus, which is now included as standard on the Galaxy S23 Ultra. There are some new tricks that would add value to the area of the phone that Samsung’s competitors have neglected.
Optional one UI
It’s not a feature that everyone will want. For users who prefer a “purer Android experience”, a way to turn off One UI’s tweaks would make Samsung flagship phones more enthusiast-friendly.
